project 92 eagle talon

This is a story about a birdy that could,92 eagle talon...this car will be up
for sale soon so i decided to take pictures of the process and put them up for everyone to see.this thread will start with the engine rebuild, installation, turbo setup and the rude awakening of the beast(15sec video will be provided when the car first starts up"bad or good").which that will hopefully be tommorow.Due to money reasons there will not be certain upgrades added till later while car is being broken in.but the major parts like engine rebuild will not be discluded.

short block;late 91 6bolt(96k miles before rebuild)
manual tranny;original tranny 72xxx miles on it
FWD 1G shell;72xxx

this is the birdy that is flying the coupe..lol

clevite 77 for crank and rod bearing.i also bought a short block gasket kit that i will add to the photos tommorow

main crank sleeve bearing(not sure what its called but its the middle one)BTW i forgot to take pictures of the installation of the new crank.the crank was machines to oem specs.

rod bearings

new piston rings and oil rings

placing the first piston...

honed, prepped, cleaned and coated aluminum(i really wished it was a aluminum short block)

arp studs placed and new 4 layer metal gasket

removal of balance shaft w/kit,oil cooler upgrade to oil pump

head is now bolted on

check and finishing any last things before droping it in

now its ready to drop in

now thats a clean engine and trans!!!

i was at the process of getting the spider welded together but will wait to get
a better deal.

mid way in the project

turbo setup

what a setup huh!20G turbo rebuilt,HKS wastegate and downpipe, apexi turbo manifold.

custom chargepipe w/oem BOV crushed(will go greedy in the near future).thats where the money got limited

almost finished just a few more things left(i know i know i need a bigger intercooler)thats where the money got limited.

Call me crazy, but that isn't a 92. I'm gonna go with 90 (unless you added the oil cooler up front before you started taking pics, then it's a 91).

Nice work (well except the ghettofab intercooler... )... I would recommend using copper spray on the mitsu metal headgasket as well.

Yeah, but '92's didn't have popups, only '90 and '91 got them.

That small intercooler is not going to be sufficient enough for that 20g. I'm a firm believer on doing it right the first time. In my opinion, I would wait it out and save up for a FMIC that will support that turbo. They've gone down in price and you might get lucky and find one on ebay. If you stick w/ that dinky intercooler, you will not get the potential power out of that 20g. Good luck.
